What was the acceptance rate this year?

Accepted! Good job to everyone who applied, and for those who got rejected or deferred don’t worry, I’m 100% sure you all have amazing options.
Also, has anyone filled out the admissions reply form yet?

Last year Rice came out with a press release about the ED info on Monday after ED results went out

Accepted!

Accepted! Congratulations to everyone who got in!

For those who didn’t, there’s something else waiting for you.

Daughter was accepted! College of Engineering/Mechanical Engineering is her preferred major.

4.0 UW, 4.9 W, #1 in her class of 350 at an average suburban (not Chicago area) Illinois high school with most rigorous coursework including 6 APs so far (5s in STEM subjects, 4s in History) and taking 5 more APs this year. 35 on ACT, 1530 superscore on SAT (800 in math), 800 on Math II and 720 on Physics subject tests.

ECs are solid but nothing special - president of two honor societies at school, tech captain of her FIRST Robotics Competition team (went to world champs last year), lots of STEM volunteer/outreach, summer job at robotics startup, JV volleyball and JV/V soccer player. Essays and recs were above average but nothing special.

She is very excited!

Accepted! 36/4.0 (no class rank tho–I’m not in the top 10%), pretty generic ECs except for climbing and a fairly selective in-state summer program. I’m from Tennessee. I guess my recs were pretty good, because I felt really meh on one of my essays.
I got the Trustee Distinguished Scholarship, too!

Congrats to all who got in, and good luck to those who were deferred or denied!
