Yeah, it's true that Will Rice doesn't have any big public parties, but I'm sure they have private ones...right? Surely they can't study ALL the time? They're a bit of a mystery..

Will Rice, Old Dorm, 2nd Floor, Long Hall... it's a perpetual party starting Thursday night and ending Sunday morning... at least, it was when I was there.

And the "newer" colleges (read: Martel, Wiess) have one very distinct advantage: individual suite thermostats (that work) with the ability to switch between Heat and A/C.

we just leave it at whatever... none of us evr change the thermostat... its like at 70 summaat.. so if ur hot, take ur shirt off or cold, wear a sweatshirt... works for us.. actually, none of us ever even mentioned it :)

oh shut up people,
martel is the best college period. nuff said. your incessant picking on the new kids on the block is uncalled for and if you want someone who isn't a college, go pick on the other "MC" we all know as mcmurtry.

Martel Dormitory piulls up lot of google results... mcmurtry's as of now have one thing at Rice, the McMurtry Auditorium in Duncan Hall which is amazing

Lighten up; it's an on-campus rivalry and there's no real harm meant by it. Sid Rich has been a "colony" of Lovett since Sid was built, Lovett shall always be a toaster, and Team Wiess shall always be plagued with ____ lice. Martel can deal with being "not a college," and you shouldn't take it so seriously.

"Team Wiess shall always be plagued with ____ lice."

I dont understand that... I think the clever anti cheer is "Team Wiess, leave Rice". Even though im from TFW, I like that anti-cheer.. the Teabag Wiess and ___ Lice is lame

So your feelings about ___ lice (the cheer) echo those from Martel regarding "not a college." You think if Martellians said "Martel is not a college" is lame (and it is), you'd stop using it? :)

You will end up liking whatever college you're in if you keep an open mind. Every college has its benefits. What people forget is that there are disadvantages to having good rooms. Lovett has probably the worst rooms on campus, but as a result we actually use our commons and socialize with people who aren't in our suite/hall/entry/whatever. Wiess has nice rooms and common rooms, but they never use their commons. I have never been jealous of anyone else in any other college, but then again, I have been described as the Lovett freshman poster-boy...

I would like to point out that Lovett is my second-favorite college, after Martel, which is the best college ever. All the other colleges are pretty much tied, except for Jones, because nobody likes Jones. So, in order to give this post an actual point, even though you'll have a particular affection for your own college, that doesn't mean you can't have good friends from other colleges. I think I probably know half of Lovett's freshman class. Well, maybe not half. But a surprisingly large number.

Everyone has their own personal sentiments about each college; here are mine:
1. Lovett - the best college at Rice. Amazing camaraderie, amazing people, amazing parties.
2. Martel - despite their not being a college, I really have nothing bad to say about Martel. I like almost everyone there I've met, but it's fun to disrespect them.
3. Sid - Okay, Lovetteers have this big rivalry with Sid, but we also have a great deal of respect for them. Sid knows how to throw a solid public party, too (unlike Wiess).
4. Hanszen - I have a lot of friends at Hanszen because of classes, some strange crossover with Lovett, etc. Behind Lovett, Hanszen has the most people on the Thresher staff.
5. Baker - I have nothing really good or really bad to say about Baker. They suck at Powderpuff, though (they're the only team we beat this year.)
6. Tie - Brown and Jones - Brown and Jones are the same college, so they come in at the same spot. They also take some things way too seriously. Someone from Brown threw a water balloon at my face from point-blank range and broke my glasses when I was running Baker 13.
8. Wiess - Wiess is a cult, and they actually charge for NOD. They're the only college that charges for a public party, and NOD is horribly overrated. Then they whine about how they "barely break even" for NOD, when every other college loses half their budget on public parties.
9. Will Rice - Will Rice Will Suck.
