<p>"The house name is Ze-Row, which stands for the zero energy row house," said Roque Sanchez, one of the student leaders. He and the approximately 100 other student team members focused on creating an affordable and environmentally friendly home. It has bamboo floors, few windows to keep out the heat and a state of the art air conditioning system. "You only get cooling where and when you need it," said Sanchez."</p>
<p>"In October the house will be entered in the Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon. Washington, D.C. is just the first stop on the way to its permanent location. Rice is donating the solar home to Project Row Houses in the Third Ward, which will, in turn, rent the home and eventually five more to low income families."</p>
