Rice Supplement question

Does anyone know where i can print the Rice Supplement off? I looked on the CommonApp website and the Rice website and both of them don't have the Rice supplement pdf file. Is Rice trying to update its supplement ?

I called this week about an interview and they said that they don't start until the 1st of the month (September I guess) so maybe they don't put out the supplement until then either.

Are you asking about the supplement essay? If so, then that is already out.

No, im talking about the Rice Supplement Application (the form with where you have to fill out your information and write the "Why Rice" essay)

I found it on the Common App website. Just click on "Supplement" under Rice University. Then it'll say "Rice University allows this supplement to be submitted Online" and there's a continue link next to it.

They will scan yours if you do it in a hard copy at home..and return it to a fully online system. We attended an Information session Monday and learned that they strongly prefer all online if possible this year.

Thanks to all your Rice families...for the great hotel tips. We had a very positive experience indeed.

hey is there a word limit for the Rice supplement essay?

uhm no but i think you should keep it ~800.
also another question i have is are the forms for the School Report (Counselor Recommendation), one Teacher Evaluation (Teacher Recommendation), and Midyear Report (to be submitted when senior midyear grades become available) included in the common app or are they seperate letters of reccomendation?

LOL mine's 1147 -__-' maybe i should just e-mail them and ask if it's okay?
oh btw, those forms are downloadable off the common app website, and they have to be submitted separately for each school. i'm using paper versions of the forms b/c my teachers/counselors seem to like that better.

On the supplement it says that the essay should be 2 to 3 pages double spaced.

Alright thanks. Also after we submit our application, does the Rice Admins email us back with sort of like a username/password for Esther so we can check out application status ? Will they confirm that they have received our application?

They email you a number and a password a few weeks after you submit you application so you can check if they have all parts of your application.

Sorry for taking over your thread but, I have a question

[quote]
C. With the understanding that the choice of academic school you indicated is not binding, explain why you are applying to that particular school of study.

Is this topic addressing like School of Natural Science, Engineering, Architecture, etc?

Yes, it is.

"The quality of Rice's academic life and the Residential College System is heavily influenced by the unique life experiences and cultural traditions each student brings. What perspective do you feel that you will contribute to life at Rice?"

Is this just a regular personal essay like that of the common app? You just write about yourself? Anyone write it yet?

I wrote mine. It was personal essay that highlighted what qualities I could bring to a community. The question is really broad. Just find some good qualities about yourself and explain why your fellow house mates will like/appreciate you.
