Could you link the post where they said this?
im pretty sure that having no withdraw button means admitted
ohh why?
I’d posit that meeting is for admitted freshman students not transfers.
yea its for already admitted students
why? based on the freshman students?
They don’t know. Nobody knows. We’re all grasping at straws, reading the tea leaves, etc. None of us will know until we get that email.
nothing for anyone today?
Nothing for me and I am really fed up with waiting tbh.
Hang in there. We should lower our expectations in regard to the decision date and assume it will be released at the end of the month. Anything else is just a bonus. This is coming from a non-traditional student who will be required to sell property and uproot their family in the event of a favorable decision. The anxiety is real. Stay busy!
Yeah they just said “by the end of the month” when I called them an hour ago. Last year was released on Tuesday the 18th. Probably doesn’t matter but this year the 31st is a Tuesday, so it would check out.
I would expect they would use the extra time from Memorial Day Weekend to possibly wrap a few things up. So expecting to hear back on the 31st is a good expectation. Hoping for the best for everyone. I know it is hard when many life decisions depend on it!
A bunch of waitlisted first-year applicants have posted they received an email saying Rice is not taking anyone off the freshman waitlist. Hope that means they are taking more transfers (first-year waitlist applicant here–but if I can’t get in, I hope ya’ll can!)
I think there is a very real possibility that they don’t take any transfers for this fall. Would be a bit of a strange result, but the fact that they didn’t take anyone from the freshman waitlist reads to me that they are in a crunch for bed space on-campus. I feel like if they knew they’d take any transfers they would have let them in by now, as we are already a week later than any of the past fall transfer cycles. My guess is that they are scrambling to figure out their plan–do they admit a handful of people (say 5-10) and made the residential situation marginally more difficult, or do they just “cancel” this transfer cycle (a lot of LACs have to do this, like Pitzer last fall and Middlebury last spring) and provide either a refund of the application fee or the ability to roll over our file to the next transfer pool (Spring 2023).
well, I’m totally desperate now.
I mean, if they really don’t have room for transfers, the least they can do is notify us in a timely manner. And if that is the case, they should definitely allow students to roll their application into the spring admission cycle.
Withdraw button gone.
Yeah my withdraw button is gone too… Maybe we’ll hear back today or tomorrow? I wouldn’t be surprised if it is the actual 31st though
Anyone still have a withdraw button?
