Rice vs. Notre Dame

I am choosing between Rice and Notre Dame and I have no idea which to pick. My family went to Notre Dame, but I think that I might fit in better at Rice. However, I could definitely find people that I would like at both. I’m not studying business or science or engineering. I didn’t get the chance to do an overnight or admit day at either school.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

@cantdecide12345 You need to tell us what are most important factors to you in choosing a school and then people on this forum as well as the Notre Dame forum can honestly tell you how each school stacks up against these factors. Then based on that input, you can make your decision. Good luck!

@TinTintoo My most important factors are probably dorm life (Notre Dame and Rice have very similar dorm systems), school spirit, sense of community, having a great and fun four years, and, when those four years are over, being able to get a good job.

@cantdecide12345 … You are not well informed based on your comment above. Rice residential system is very different. The only School that is like is Yale. Notre Dame does not have close to the Rice system. Secondly, Rice has no religious system. Notre Dame is a religious based school. Therefore the sense of community is very different (conservative vs liberal). Both schools can get you a good job that is the only common You really need to do more homework on both schools as there are stark differences. My son goes to Rice and we did not even apply to Notre Dame. Because we understand the vast difference between the two Schools. He loves it because we did a lot of home work on all schools he applied and did not apply to. Do your homework and you will know where you belong! Good luck to you! you are a smart kid and will do well if you chose the right school that fits your personality. Good luck!

Go check out Niche at https://colleges.niche.com/rankings/best-colleges/ . As a rankings site it is no better or worse than any other site, just uses different inputs (incidentally, Rice is #5 and ND is #13). The rankings are generated from student supplied input, and you will benefit from a considerably larger based inputs than you will get on CC from a single question. Each college page has detailed student inputs on various subjects along with a consensus summary. Niche should help you sort out some of the respective differences as they pertain to your concerns. Then, when you have defined a specific question, CC is the place to go to get very specific info.
