Rice/WashingtonU at St.Louis/NYU/or USC?

My major is undecided and I'm not sure what I want to do later on. So now I have a huge dillema....Rice seems cheaper, but WUSTLE is the highest ranked, and NYU has a good location. Gah, so stressed out. Tell me which school you would choose.

PS, I'm strong in both the sciences and the humanities and I'm considering medicine or law.

NYU ISN'T a good location in my book - unless you don't care about a college experience- in that case go there because all the others ARE college experiences. BTW- I've met 5 unhappy NYU students for every happy one, and I probably have met 200 kids from NYU.

Hey Slipper...thanks a lot for your posts...they've really helped me with my college process. But one question: how about UChicago vs. Northwestern? Where would you choose and why? Thanks a lot.

Sure no problem! I'd go to Northwestern, unless you are a very specific type of person. For 99% of people the academic differences are moot, but I think Northwestern offers a more well-rounded experience. Chicago kids tend to wear their academic talents on their sleeve, while Northwestern students tend to downplay their prowess but excel anyway. Personally I find the Northwestern view much more refreshing. But a person who doesn't really care about parties, community, festiveness, etc might like UChicago more.

In the end its a big lifestyle issue, a lesser academic issue.

Also Kimfuge - I forgot that another "type" seems to like chicago. The minority urban types (people that party in the city, smoke hookah, whatever - trying to paint a picture not stereotype) have alot of fun at Chicago because they enjoy the Chicago club scene. The indian, and asian populations particularly tend to have the most fun at Chicago.

Hey thanks so much!
