Riddick Family Scholarship

Does anyone have info on this scholarship, how it's awarded, what it's based on?

thanks

What’s the context?
A Google search returns little. I found:
Riddick Family Scholarship Fund $1,500+
Awarded to students with strong academics who demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities at the high school and in the community.
Is this a scholarship your child has been awarded?

There are many small scholarships like this with no application process and the selection process is a bit vague.

yes my child received this scholarship, originally was awarded financial aid, but in the account it appears as scholarship, a large amount.

When Vanderbilt awards financial aid they sometimes use various scholarships that your child may qualify for.

This, from the financial aid page:
The typical need-based financial aid award that Vanderbilt offers to eligible first-year undergraduates consists of a combination of grants, scholarships, and employment opportunities/expectations.

When my child received a scholarship in this fashion they wrote to the entity that gave the scholarship and thanked them for their generosity.

The Office of Stewardship may be able to tell you who provided the scholarship.

thanks for the info, I didn’t realize they would identify and use scholarships my child qualified for without indicating so, but we are so grateful and happy with all they have provided. I’m going to check with fin aid office so we can in fact send a thank you.

Your child will likely be prompted to send a thank you at some point soon. The office of Development and Alumni Relations retains a database with copies of all notes sent, so your child should be prompted to supply the note to the university so they can scan it in for their records and forward it to the donor. S has such letters in the system for his law school scholarship and D has one in her file for a travel scholarship for art history research.

Congrats to your child!
