Rider MT - Stacking of scholarships?

Hi there! Do any of you know if Rider offers artistic scholarships? My daughter received an offer of academic scholarship from the financial aid department but the cost of attendance is still prohibitive. We were wondering if anyone knows of whether Rider also offers artistic merit and if so whether those are stacked with the academic awards or it’s simply “one or the other”.

I’d like to appeal to try and close the gap b/w Rider and some of the other offers she currently has which have a lower net cost, just was not sure if artistic money is even out there and if so whether we would then forfeit the academic monies offered.

Any advice appreciated!

We received a letter from financial aid yesterday. We had received an email previously saying that there was a Dean’s scholarship award. The Dean’s scholarship award was not included in the financial aid letter we received yesterday. I just called them and they said they would do some research and would add the scholarship, so I guess that means they will stack the awards? I hope so, because if they don’t then we probably would think twice about Rider.

Oh wow! Ok this is great news! My daughter had already gotten the Presidential scholarship which was really hefty and I do not want to be greedy, but it’s still so expensive :frowning:

This is what was relayed to us…A mailing to include your admission decision and information regarding the merit based scholarship (which is comprised of funds awarded to you based on your talent and academic pedigree) will be sent with your admission decision a well.

@El-Cee what is great news? My news not great that they took away the grant and replaced it with the presidential scholarship. We did NOT get both.

Yes, I misunderstood the original post, think I read it too quickly and got excited! But I thought you meant that an academic reward had previously come and then an artistic award followed. Realized afterwards when I re-read your post that there probably wasn’t anything to be excited about, unless they do in fact stack them down the line. I hope that is the case for you!

Did anyone ask for more money? Rider is so pricey, even after scholarships

@onepercentmom , the way your post was stated, it looked like you were saying that the FA letter included a grant but not the prior Dean’s scholarship. And so you called them and they said they would “add” it on. You never said that Rider said they were going to replace the grant with the scholarship. I can understand El-Cee’s confusion.

@onepercentmom - we had a similar situation, received a scholarship, then financial aid letter came and the scholarship was missing. I reached out to financial aid and they said they would get back to me. I followed up with an email but have not heard anything yet. I am hoping they will stack, but still waiting to hear!

@NoMTinMD @onepercentmom @exitstageleft We appealed for more money there ($30k sounds great until you deduct it from 62) but to no avail. We are hating to give it up, but can’t do it.

Hi! My daughter was admitted to Rider last year and received the Dean’a scholarship - and two other awards. The Dean’a scholarship is from the dean of your major (i.e., College of the Arts) so therefore is a combination of talent and academics. She also got another award for a couple of extra thousand dollars. I went to financial aid on admitted students day in April and presented my case - including the scholarships that she was awarded by other schools. They took my information and presented it to the board and were able to match the grant money that another school had offered me. So, the good news is, they are pretty accommodating at Rider if you have good evidence that you can get more elsewhere!
