Right C3 LLC in Las Vegas - scam solicitation?

A company called Right C3 sent me a letter today giving notice that “you and your student are scheduled to participate in an educational group presentation followed by a personal interview to help determine college admission and financial aid availability.”

It goes on, with urgency: “Colleges are now identifying prospective students as early as the 9th grade for admissions and financial aid assistance. Therefore, you need to attend in order to receive assistance in making critical decisions that will arise in the next few months. XXX(my son’s name here)'s future is too important not to attend.”

First off, I never signed up to be “scheduled” for this “educational group presentation.” It’s irritating to me that an appointment was made without my knowledge, and they imply that I must “attend in order to receive assistance” that I didn’t ask for.

I googled it to find what the heck this company is trying to sell. Apparently, they want to sell me college counseling services and administrative help filling out the FAFSA for a hefty sum, $2K or so.

Sounds like a scam. Anyone else get this letter? How did they get my child’s name and address?

Scam. They buy lists.

It is a company to get you to buy their admission services help. I kept receiving them with appointments prescheduled.

has anyone used this service? is it worthwhile?

Is it worthwhile? Who knows? But who would want to do business with a company that operates like this and sends out completely misleading communications? “Colleges are now identifying prospective students as early as the 9th grade for admissions and financial aid assistance.” That’s just a blatant lie.
