Rigor of academics

Hello! I was recently admitted, and I want to know what the rigor of academics is like at UoR. Since it is a highly ranked school, is it the kind of place where you have to work extremely hard just to get a C? I want to be challenged in college, but I also want to attend a school where I will thrive academically. Similarly, are the students here more competitive or collaborative?

ladybug, first, congrats on getting into UR.

Second, the students are more collaborative in nature.

Last, the rigor will largely depend on what you choose to pursue. I had some classes that I worked my tail off to get a B- but others where I didn’t feel I did much and pulled an A. You got into the school, so you can do the work. Time management will be the next obstacle you’ll have to face. If you can manage your time, there’s no reason you can’t succeed, but yes, you will be challenged.

I came from a public high school and was worried that the rigor would be much more difficult here at UR, but like Spiders05 said it really depends on the class. Most classes, if you continue to work as hard as you likely did to get into this, will definitely be manageable and while it may be harder than it used to for you to get an A, you will still do fine
