^^But what can we all do in the future so this never happens again?

Do what Chris did and call the police... He called the police as soon as the guy pulled out the knife... the only reason that the fight started was because the guy's friend punched our brother and threw him down the driveway in which they were arguing in... Sigma Pi has always told our brothers to help each other out in need, so Chris did what he was brought up to do... This is truly a terrible thing that could have been avoided if the guy never brought a knife into the picture and escalated things the way it did.

I'd ask you more questions, but I think it's probably in everyone's best interests not to go into a lot of detail on this board.

regardless of who was acting like a jerk at the time, no one deserves to be killed over something as stupid as a frat party.

Ryan, thank you so much for your courage in letting us know Chris's side of the story, as he is no longer able to speak for himself.

You mentioned that Chris called the police as soon as the perp announced that he had a knife. What happened after that? Why didn't Chris just stay away from the group after he called the police? Was one of his brothers in imminent danger?

I agree with kenf1234 that we should at least try to learn information from Chris's incredibly sad and tragic death that may ultimately save someone's life in the future. My S has been raised to defend his friends and "brothers" just like Chris, so I would like to pass along any insight that may help keep him alive.

Take care Ryan and thank you again for your heartfelt posts.

Hey Ryan, this is anuj's friend (gagans younger bro). I can't believe this happened when anuj told me. We just hung out with chris the night of the sigma pi galaxy party. thanks for telling chris's side of the story because i've been reading articles and articles and i'm damn tired of people bashing chris when theyve never met him before. Chris was one of the most intelligent people i've ever talked to and he was def not a guy that started **** with people for no reason. My heart goes out to his family.

But no need to bash everyone in this board. Some of us were fully supporting Chris Wootton and not "criticizing" him.
And I have no reason "to be ashamed of myself" for saying RIP. I can understand your feelings Mr. SigmaPi, but next time please read over the previous comments before making sweeping generalizations.

It's understandable that people are going to be pretty sensitive about this. Perhaps we all should be a little careful with our words, especially considering the personal feelings that are involved.

Another reason for law-abiding citizens to carry concealed firearms.
