RISD MArch Admissions! Please Help!

Hello All!

I just finished applying to a number of architecture programs for next fall. I am a recent graduate from Manhattanville College were I double majored in History and African Studies. I graduated with a 3.67 GPA and honors in both majors. Although everything has been submitted, I am worried if my portfolio is strong enough. Since I my BA has nothing to do with architecture, I found it hard to find information regarding the contents of of the portfolio and its structure. I ended up including some design projects, photography, painting, etc and you can view it below via the link:

Portfolio 2013

If you can, let me know if the content is okay? Do you think I have a chance of getting in?

Thanks!!

Hey Vegas247,

I took a look at your portfolio. It has some good stuff, but from what I have gathered from friends in masters programs and by speaking with professors on admissions teams is that, oddly enough, architectural selections committees do not want to see architectural drawings in a portfolio.

The professor told me it is more beneficial to show artistic and creative work that both gives an insight into yourself ( thru paintings - like you have that were very good - drawings etc.). If you give them architectural drawings they can too easily pick them apart and don’t help your application. I would add more of your paintings if you have some, you have a real knack for it.
