Did awful my sophomore year with a mainly B averages across all of my core classes :( but no C's. I will try to improve that Junior year.

Here are my courses so far:

AP lang
AP human geography
AP economics
AP us history
pre ap chemistry
Advanced computer math
Functions trig

Is there anything you guys recommend changing considering my bad sophomore year grades? I'm trying to get into Virginia Tech. Should I take 4 years of spanish and try to get an A in spanish 4 since I only got a B this year?

I'm also afraid that some of those classes are "fluff" classes that colleges won't care about. For example. AP human geo and Advanced computer math. I want to pursue a career in computer science, programming, engineering, something along those lines so I thought the computer math class would help with some programming. Also, I would be able to take AP computer science my senior year. AP human geography on the other hand, I have no idea what that is. Is that a fluff class that I shouldn't take and switch out for spanish 4?

Any other advice you have I will greatly appreciate! I still can't stop flipping out over my horrible sophomore grades :(.

AP US History and AP Lang can be extremely intensive courses if you’re not passionate about those subjects. I would switch out AP Human Geography for Spanish 4 because you already have a history class (APUSH) and 4 years of a language looks better.

Was your sophomore schedule more or less intensive? If it was less intensive then this, you may want to tone down this schedule a bit if you earned B averages across your core classes. Does your school offer Honors?

AP world
Pre ap english
algebra 2
Communication Systems
PE 10
Spanish 3
Pre Ap Biology

I know I earned a B average across my core classes which is pretty disappointing. I really want to work much harder next year and go for that A average while maintaining the same rigor.

Even though Human Geography is an AP class, everyone at my school is taking it because there’s this consensus going around that is an easy AP class. I don’t want to be someone on that bandwagon if the class is a waste of time to colleges, but if colleges in fact do look at it I don’t mind taking it.

3 AP classes is extremely good for Junior year. Worry about more next year. But it actually looks like your course rigor increased from Sophomore year to Junior year. Make sure you study!
