Rising Senior: Getting a teacher recommendation from a Georgetown alumnus?

I’m thinking about asking my Euro History teacher for a teacher recommendation to GU. I’v only had him for one semester but he knows me very well; he know who I aspire to be and my work ethics. On top of that, he was a sociology major at GU. I’m not planning to major in sociology or history (premed/spanish) but I feel like his recommendation might have some more weight because of his alumnus status.

Question about Common app: Can I choose which teachers’ recommendations to send to certain colleges? Like can I send Teacher A and C’s letter to GU and then Teachers C and B to UVA, etc?

Thanks for the help.

Georgetown doesn’t use the common app. So he’ll have to submit that recommendation separately.

The longer answer is when schools use the Common App, you can choose which LORs to send to individual schools. FWIW, three of the teachers in our D’s school are GT grads and they were beseiged for LOR to GT. Of the two dozen well-qualified applicants, the only admits were a double legacy and a very (very very) accomplished musician/scholar/writer who was denied in the EA round, but accepted RD. She ultimately went Ivy, so GT probably made the right decision in the EA round.
