Rising trends? Ec?s

obviously colleges look at GPA the most but how much can good test scores and EC’s make up for this?

Also, how much do rising trends help? I know 4 across the board is the best, but how much does a huge jump (.5 ) help?

Thanks

ECs-always 20-30ish percent

70% or so is academic.

any upward trend is good.
of course, the more the better.

I think this year its like 40% based on personality.

wait.

it varies by YEAR??

What??..i've never heard of tha lol

which school is 40%?

well recently, the criteria was based more on Personlity/talent and a bit less on Academics. I am talking about HYPSM

but was it based on personality/talent only to separate the people with the best GPAs...like to differentiate between to people with 4.0s, or would personality/talent make up for an average GPA?

yes!

^thta's the thing.

first academics. then personality to separate the high academics.
always...

if u dont pass the 1st level -acaemics-you don't even get a chance to fight personality.

I know alot of people with normal gpas get into ivies based on their talent, essays, and rec letters. If you have a 4.0, and 1600 with crappy essays, you are straight out rejected!

what do you consider "normal" GPA?...because if its not like...3.95 or whatever...that is great news!

a normal gpa is within the range of 3.7-4.0 unweighted. For weighted, the higher, the batter.
