RIT Class of 2020

Does anyone know when the deposit is due for accepted students? Is it the 01st of May?

@swellsoccer our S didn’t get into the ME program, he go into the Engineering Technology which is not even part of the Kate Gleason School. He wants to be an Engineer, so Tech is out. We called immediately and were told that this was filled, however, Industrial and MicroElectronic Engineering were the only two left to consider. He researched the Micro and they evaluated his application and he got in. As far as I am aware, he had no way of getting in to ME later if he wanted to switch, it was not an option. Therefore, we are still waiting for one more school to get back to us for Mechanical. If he doesn’t get in there, he will choose RIT. Hope this helps.

Hey guys! I got accepted to RIT - am probably gonna attend - got a 10k scholarship but no financial aid other than that. Excited to be here!

@oldmom4896 how exactly do you ask for more, I would love for some advice (as more financial aid would be helpful)

@oldmom4896 hi! If you don’t mind me asking, cause I’d like to know more too, how would you go through the process of asking for more aid? I went and talked to a financial aid couselor while I was at the open house this past Saturday and they made it seem like you could only appeal if your financial situation had significant changes? any tips would really help since I’d love to attend and just a little extra aid would make a huge difference!

@nhukid, if you were awarded more aid from a comparable school, you can send a letter stating that RIT is your first choice but you can’t attend due to finances and ask if they would consider matching the other schools aid package. Attach a copy of the other award.

@nhukid, we did this with two other schools my S was looking at. It worked with one, but not the other. @Pepper17’s suggestion is the process we followed.

@Pepper17 @dbjs70
ah thanks, but the other schools I applied to aren’t very similar to RIT (most of them are art schools and one is a considerably less expensive state school)

nhukid, it doesn’t matter if the schools aren’t similar. There is absolutely no harm done to try.

Got into RIT with a 20k presidential scholarship . International applicant from INDIA.

Yess!! I am coming to RIT . Major in Computer Science

@TheSpecialOne, congrats!

Accepted as a spring 2016 applicant for HCC within the IST department of the CS school. Very excited, but very nervous about what it will end up costing (no word on financial aid yet)
