Due by dec. 1st (optional supplement)
Does that mean that I can submit it (online ) at 11:59 p.m. on December 1st?????

This is specifically for the Robertson Scholarship supplement by the way.

Due by dec. 1st (optional supplement)
Does that mean that I can submit it (online ) at 11:59 p.m. on December 1st?????

This is specifically for the Robertson Scholarship supplement by the way.

Yes, you should be able to submit it through December 1 - that is, until 11:59:59PM (presumably eastern) on December 1.

Last year, they also kept accepting them after the deadline, although this (1) may reflect poorly on you as an applicant and (2) may no longer be the case, so I do not recommend it.

Glad to hear that you’re planning on submitting a supplement, though! The Robertson is truly an incredible program and submitting a supplement is the only way to ensure that your application is reviewed directly by the program staff.

I was 43 seconds over: so 12/2 at 12:00:43.

Are they going to discard my application?! Gosh, I'm freaking out.

they sent an e-mail out saying that the deadline was extended to the 3rd

Dear ______

"... To accommodate students and recommenders
submitting from different time zones, we will keep the site available until
Monday morning, December 3. All forms submitted by 8:00 a.m. EST
Monday, December 3 will be considered as on time. December 1 is still the
postmark deadline. "

So that means, Dec 1st is the deadline if you're submitting by snail mail, and December 3rd if you're submitting online?

yeah basically

yep 3rd for online

Yep- they've given us 'til monday.

Haha that sucks. I rushed my essays out to meet the deadline with 20 seconds to go, and then re-read and realized I had a few grammar errors.

I could have used those extra two days!!! Oh well, good thing the ideas in my essays were gold.

If I submit my application before december 3rd, but my letter of recommendation is not sent until a later date, will my application even be reviewed?

Crap! I thought Robertson's scholars program was reviewed with the rest of Duke's merit programs, with just your Duke application. Will it be a problem if my recommendations are later than the 3rd?

probably.. but hey idk.. jeff the supplement is optional

Yes, but I'm sure the prior winners all submitted the supplement lol.

Submitting the supplement is encouraged because it's the only way to ensure that your application is reviewed by the Robertson Scholars Program directly.

However, students are pulled from the full Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill pools as well, and each year many of these candidates do go on to win. In my opinion it's not worth the risk hoping they'll pull you from the regular pool, though.

It's obviously not ideal if your recommendation is late, but it’s generally well understood that sometimes people who are writing recommendations can take a while to get their letters in. And it’s certainly better to get it in late than to give up and not turn in one at all.

How will we know if they received everything (supplement+2 letters of rec)?

The people who recommended me preferred sending theirs in by mail, so I only submitted by part of the application online. I think the letters of rec might have even gotten to their office before I submitted mine...should I call them to check?
