Yes, I just got finalist for Duke only! Very stoked
I was selected as a Finalist for Duke!
i got rejected from finalist, but thats okay. I’m really lucky to even be considered as a semifinalist considering I procrastinated on those essays. Hopefully, I can stil get into Duke!
The fact that you were a semifinalist is an extremely strong indicator that you’re likely going to get into Duke (even though the admissions committees are separate). Keep your head up and best of luck to you!
Thank you so much! Congrats to you on your finalist notification!
@ anyone who is now a Robertson finalist: would you guys be interested in making a group chat?
I made a groupme for finalists!! Pm for the link idk if I’m allowed to post it here
Here’s a groupme some people just made: GroupMe
I (Benjamin) sent a request to join - if you could add me it’d be greatly appreciated!
Does anyone know if being a finalist for UNC is any indication of being accepted to both schools?
In general, do you know if a Robertson could possibly be rejected from the school they were not selected for the scholarship for?
Could you add me (Veronica) as well? I sent a request. Thank you!
From what I know, if you are a finalist for UNC, you’re getting into UNC. If you’re a finalist for Duke, you’re getting into Duke. If you’re a finalist for both, you’re getting into both.
I actually know someone that was selected for the Duke portion of the scholarship but rejected from UNC early. It is possible.
I’m not sure but I was accepted into UNC EA and as a semifinalist for both UNC and Duke (and ultimately a finalist for just Duke, they don’t do finalists for both schools cuz I emailed and asked and they said they wind it down to one school at that step of the process). I’m guessing this means I might’ve gotten into Duke because this is also the point at which (and correct me if I’m wrong, any other finalists viewing this thread) where admissions committees compare applications. I was also strategic to mention my Robertson semifinalist status in my recent Duke interview so they definitely have that on file now.
With that, I can tell you that being a finalist for UNC is no indication of your chances at Duke UNLESS you were a semifinalist for both UNC and Duke. If you were also a semifinalist for UNC only, then there’s no way of knowing Duke. However, since you’re a semifinalist/finalist at UNC, you should (just by logic) definitely be around the top of the pile in terms of being a competitive applicant for Duke, so don’t worry about it too much. Hope this helps!
I have a similar story, I was a semi-finalist for both schools, but only a finalist for Duke since I selected preference for Duke on my application back in November. Do you know how many finalists there are for each group?
to the best of my knowledge there are around 30-40 finalists per school and they pick 18-20 for each after the finalist weekend
Thanks and Good luck!
Are the Robertson Scholars Finalists for Duke offered likely letters?? I wasn’t offered a likely letter and I’m kinda worried a bit about admission to Duke.
They aren’t, but being a finalist for Duke could be considered equivalent to a likely letter.
What about the other scholarships? If you get one, it’ll be straight out in your acceptance letter or do you get an early notification?
I heard the other scholarships notified people early that they were finalists and basically got into Duke. They still have to go through an interview process to get the scholarship.
