TUSCALOOSA – With two performances on September 9 and September 10, 2010, veteran classic rock band KANSAS will team up with the Huxford Symphony Orchestra of The University of Alabama. Inspired by the success of their 2009 StarCity Recording DVD/CD release ‘There’s Know Place Like Home’ – which saw KANSAS team up for a special night with the Washburn University Orchestra – the group decided to take this idea on the road. The feedback that KANSAS drummer Phil Ehart received from prospective universities has been overwhelmingly supportive in their desire to bring the concept to their campuses.

Thanks, mom, for posting this. I would encourage all the kids to attend this event. This was one of my favorite things about college, getting to just walk across campus to hear live music, for not too much money, either. I don’t know if students will have to pay for this, but I’m sure it’s a lot less than what they would normally pay to hear a band at an arena.

The tix are about $30 - 40 depending on seat choice.

Mom, is that price of 30 to 40 for students, too? Will the kids be able to use their ACT card to buy the tickets?

This is what is on the School of Music’s website regarding the concert…

Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 30. Ticket prices are $42 for Main Floor, $37 First Balcony, and $32 for Second Balcony. Concerts take place in the Concert Hall of the Moody Music Building at 7:30 p.m. on the campus of The University of Alabama. For ticket information or an immediate credit card purchase call the School of Music Box Office at (205) 348-7111.

The ticket prices are the same for all buyers; granted, the price is a little steep, but given that Moody Concert Hall seats roughly 900, it’s not too bad. I’ll be there on the Thursday night- look for me in the 3rd row, dead center.

^^
The tickets can be bought at the Moody box office (at Moody Music building) or via phone (credit card only). It’s cash/check/credit only, I think.

Glad you’ll get to go, Kansas. I’ll pass on the info to son. That sounds like a great venue. Price is not bad. That’s what I used to pay for concerts 20 years ago. And it’s a good cause. Enjoy the show!
