Role of HS grades in Ross Transfer decisions

So I was admitted into UMich today for LSA - Economics. This got me wondering, if I don't get Preferred Admission, and I have to apply as a transfer during freshman year, will Ross look at my high school grades or just my freshman year grades to make decisions?

I am wondering so I can know just what I can get away with next semester :)

Only freshman grades. Feel free to let your HS grades implode, as long as they don’t get so low that you get turned down by LSA.

I read in this thread that they do look at an applicants high school record:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-michigan-ann-arbor/589516-regular-admission-ross-lsa-honors-needed.html

Can anyone confirm this?

Yeah they look at HS grades now. Once the number of available spots dropped because of the preferred admit program it got a lot more competitive and they needed more info from the freshman applicants. DONT blow off senior spring.

So jnpn, lets say I finish HS with around a 3.60-3.65 Unweighted (my UM GPA for sophomore and junior yr is about a 3.69) and my 1st semester at UMich I pull a 3.7-3.8 (assuming I will be in the honors program, otherwise a 3.8-3.9 if in just all regular classes)? I am gonna try to get my SAT to be 2250 or better as my ACT is only a 32 right now, I will likely need to move it up to get into honors.

Will I still have a decent chance at Regular Admission even though a large portion of my competition will have 4.0’s from HS? I will definitely try to get some leadership roles in EC and will write excellent essays.

Yeah if you do that you will be fine. They still put more influence on what you do when you get to Michigan. Plus, the HS GPA isn’t as important as HS EC’s to them. If you can get a 3.9 at Michigan who cares what your HS GPA was.
