Average Stats for the Honors Program

hey im just wondering what the average stats it takes to get into the honors program and/or the preferred admit Ross program as a high school senior

Preferred admission to Ross will probably be Ivy League caliber students.

The presentation I attended said they are looking for about 80 students. I'd think that these 80 will have to be some of the best the school has.

dsmo are you in Ross? Also, what are the requirements to transfer into Ross after freshman year?

Average Stats from people I know in Ross and what I've heard:

ACT: 32
GPA: 3.8+

Thats straight out of high school? What are transfer stats after freshman year in UMich?

I'm a high school senior that applied to the preferred admissions program, but from what I've seen and heard, Ross preadmits will be the absolute cream of the crop.

I'm sure Alexandre will find his way into this thread eventually, but he'll probably tell you that Ross students are in the top 10% of all students at Michigan. If you want to apply at the end of the year, you're going to need as high a GPA as possible, and also to demonstrate leadership on/off campus.

I have nothing to back it up, but I think that armo1's post of 32 ACT and 3.8+ GPA for Ross students sounds perfectly reasonable.

I'm hoping to get into LSA and then apply after frosh because I don't have the stats to get into Ross preferred admissions. But if I get into LSA i'm definitely working my ass off and doing internships and getting involved.

I really want to get into Ross too (I think I would pick it over Harvard at this point.) This is the first year of preferred admissions at Ross, so nobody really knows how that will turn out or how much of the class will be filled. I think I'm a pretty competitive applicant, so if I were to get in, I'd pay my deposit at Michigan as quick as I could get my parents to the computer..

I've attended an info session on Ross, and this is pretty much what it was about:

The Ross GPA admit range last year (second year students applying for their third year, now freshman/HS seniors can apply) was 3.2 to 3.9. The mean was 3.6. It's not expected to change for the freshmen. However, the freshmen this year don't compete with the preadmits or the sophomores. So about 350 freshman, 350 sophomores, and 80? HS seniors will be chosen. (They didn't talk about preadmits.)

Many 4.0's were rejected because they didn't have enough college-level EC's. Also, essays are important. They also like to see that you advanced in classes. For example, if you placed out of Calc I, you should take Calc II, etc. Course rigor matters. What I learned was that GPA is not the only thing, so don't worry if your grades aren't good first semester. They take a lot of things into account. A grade of a C is considered a passing grade, and one of those supposedly won't kill you. These are all things I learned at the info session.

And be ready to tell them why you want that BBA because there are many ways to get to certain careers w/o one. IB? Econ is fine. MC? Anything will do. Why the BBA? Why study business? Don't flatter them; they know they're a top ranked school.

btw, STATS 350 supposedly helps you once you're in the B-school, and it's a pretty easy class.

Hope this helps. Is anyone on CC a b-school student at Ross? I haven't seen too many (if any at all)

I want to say that Honors LSA is ACT: 32+ or SAT: 1450+ ?
