Rolling Admission

Hey guys! I have a question about rolling admission:

So if I’m retaking the SAT in August and the ACT in September, should I wait to apply to the colleges that have rolling admission? I don’t quite understand if it is possible to send score updates for a rolling admission college, can someone please explain it to me?

Thank you!

Does the college’s web site answer that question, or can you call or email the AO to ask? Without a definitive answer from the school, I’d say the earlier you apply the better. The word is out about the many advantages of having a RA acceptance in your pocket early senior year, plus the early bird usually gets the worm as far as any possible merit aid goes. You can always make a note in your application that test scores are forthcoming.

Just send the scores as soon as they are available.

Under rolling admissions, a college makes admission decisions as completed applications are received, often within a few weeks after your application file is complete (including having at least one set of test scores). You can update the file with new scores before the actual decision on admission is made. Nevertheless, it is possible that sending a test you take after applying will not be considered for admisison because the decision may have already been made. However, you should check the rolling admissions colleges to which you are intending to apply concerning the issue you raise, because many rolling admissions colleges do not even start rolling out decisions until November or December and thus the August or September test will undoutedly be on time to be considered.
