Rolling vs. EA

I notice a new thread that lists the 2019 acceptances....none of the schools are on the East Coast (the only ones I'm familiar with) but I know that November 1st is the first deadline for all the schools we looked at for EA. Are the schools listed using a rolling admission process? Excuse my ignorance..I've heard of rolling admissions but I never came across any school that actually had it, then again, we did not look at midwest or western state schools. Just curious how all these students already have acceptance letters. I'd love to celebrate an acceptance with my daughter to relieve some of the stress but I figured this wouldn't happen until mid-December at the earliest.

I’m assuming that those schools are using the rolling admission process, otherwise they wouldn’t have gotten their acceptance letters back so soon. I think for early action, they don’t send acceptance letters back until around mid-December, but it depends on the school.

There are schools with a mix of them too. Rolling basically means one may hear back (usually positive result) earlier if you submit early. For regular EA, they would typically have a scheduled announcement date for anyone submitted by the deadline disregarding the order of submission. My D got her first acceptance notice within 3 weeks after application submission in early September last year from a school with rolling admission.
