Romani Jr is on the way

So happy for your great news today!

Very happy to see the good news this morning!

Hurray! Glad to hear the wonderful news.

Way to start a Monday! Good, good news.

So happy for the good news!!

Now you’ve got all the rest of us crying too. But for happy happy reasons!

Fabulous news!!!

Lots of morning sickness with #1, hardly any with #2. Don’t sweat it. Great news! Keeping my fingers crossed for 12 weeks.

Use this good news as a harbinger of good things to come. Try, try, to relax and enjoy yourself. Pretend, convince yourself, this is a normal pregnancy and do not obsess with any of the details. Let go. There will be fewer stress hormones in your system. Wish I could have had that advice back in the day. I know the feelings that come with a difficuklty in conceiving plus the problems of health (age in my case).

We can’t choose our relatives, can we? We all have the mythical perfect extended family but for some of us it just isn’t so. You will have your (imperfect) nuclear family- that is enough. Regarding the religion bit. At one point everyone has an ancestor who left the fold. It may have been when Christianity, Judaism, Islam or any other religion was embraced or a variance in the family religion. Some parent was always disappointed when their beliefs were abandoned, even if it was thousands of years ago. Keep the faith in yourselves and your beliefs.

Very very happy to see this!

As you can see, your entire CC extended family are happy for you and Mr R and jedi O! It’s wonderful that you have one healthy young jedi and are staying healthy and getting the care and attention you and little jedi need and deserve. Try to enjoy the experience and take things as they come. If you can learn to meditate it will be very handy (if you’re not already a pro at it like you are at so many things).

I will try to meditate. I’m very, very bad at anything like that. My brain just does not like to quiet down. I’ve tried many times over the years and sometimes use the techniques to try and fall asleep (which is only sometimes successful).

I came home and slept for about 4 hours lol. I woke up and watched the video of the scan that Mr R took for my mom and started crying again. Much harder this time. The dog was very confused and tried to comfort me ? (She’s going to be a good fur-sister)

I asked to meet with a nutritionist because I’m afraid I’m not getting enough protein. I’ve been a vegetarian for over half of my life now and never really worried about it before but now that I’m eating for the little Jedi too, I need to be more careful.

I’m also going to suck it up and pay the ridiculous $$ to get another membership at the rec center a city over so I can start swimming again. I know when I go see my rheumy on Wednesday, he’s going to be mad at me for letting it lapse lol. But the water has always been my happy place so it’s a dual purpose of exercise and relaxation.

Seeing a nutritionist is a good idea. DIL is a long-time vegetarian and gave birth to my healthy GD 22 months ago and is pregnant with my GS now. Not sure what changes to her diet she made during the pregnancy, but I know she was more diligent about following a good diet.

Good move to work with a nutritionist. Baby jedi will NEED some of the nutrients, so be sure there is an adequate supply of goodies to keep you both happy and healthy. Water sounds like it will be an excellent way for you to get exercise and be supported during this exciting time.
I had a very difficult time learning to quiet my mind, but once learned, it’s an invaluable skill and I’d strongly recommend you continue trying it. At first, I couldn’t even close my eyes–it felt too vulnerable. Now, I can quiet my mind any time, any place and it has been SO useful over the years in dealing with very stressful situations (like when Lamaze just wasn’t doing it for me and I was having to contemplate anesthesia, which doesn’t agree with me). My mind instinctively went into meditative mode and we were able to get me to go with the contractions WITHOUT pain and medication.
Anyway, it sounds like you’re making great progress. Please remember to ask about colostrum, if that’s something you may wish baby jedi to have.

We’ve probably mentioned this before but any chance your insurance will cover a portion of the rec center costs if your doc writes a script that it’s prescribed for your health conditions??

@abasket I dont think they cover it but I have to call bcbs tomorrow anyway because they charged me for a prenatal visit. I’ll add that to my list of things to ask. (It says in the handbook thing that they don’t but who knows…)

My 3x/week classes are paid for with health care spending acct funds with an Rx.

My experience with a high-deductible Blue Shield play in California was that they habitually charged me for things that were supposed to be free preventive services, and they would always fix that problem as soon as I contacted them. Sometimes along with some lame excuse that I found rather entertaining.
I learned that I didn’t even have to call, I could just use the contact form on the website and it would get fixed. I think that was a deliberate practice on the part of the insurance company because of all the people who don’t/ won’t call. (Typically the amounts would be low, like a $30 lab fee — so I figure that 90% of people who have plenty of money simply pay without thinking about it.) Of course, BCBC in Michigan is a different company… but I think that a lot of insurance companies operate that way as their standard practice. If there is a way they can avoid paying for something… they will.

I have BCBSM and have not had issues in years … but when my kids were young, they routinely charged me for things that should be covered. I would file a complaint, and it would get paid. Another possibility is that your doctor’s office coded it incorrectly. I would start with the insurer, asking why you were charged, then take it from there depending on the answer you get.

Congratulations on your good news!

My BCBS care is fantastic and I’m generally quite happy with them. This is the first time in a while that they’ve billed me for something they shouldn’t have.

The dx code was correct (I looked it up) - pregnancy < 8 weeks or something like that.
