A Greek lady an Penzey’s told me to put the store bought hummus in a large bowl and add cumin then swirl it with a knife, drizzle good olive oil on it. It really makes a difference.
Maybe I’ll trying that, @oregon101 but I am a complete hummus snob. I simply cannot eat store bought hummus anymore. It tastes like… I don’t even know but not hummus!
I have at least a dozen hummus places within walking distance and my favorite is only a few miles away. It’s pretty cheap, not that much more expensive than the grocery store, so it almost seems like a crime not to buy it fresh lol. (I know it’s simple but I really just do not cook and I’m not going to pretend like I’ll take it up this pregnancy.)
I really do live in the land of hummus and I love it.
How wonderful for you to have an array of places from which to get lots of fresh hummus! I envy you!
“Hummus places” - didn’t know that was a thing!
@MaineLonghorn I just mean stores and restaurants that sell hummus
Oh, OK! I was picturing a whole store with glassed-in cases of hummus, like a bakery!
Hummus places are a thing! They are known as hummusiya in Israel and they are becoming popular in the USA. Here’s one from famed chef Michael Solomonov, owner of the James Beard Best Restaurant in America.
@doschicos, that’s cool! I actually bought some hummus just now. I was surprised at how many varieties our local Hannaford’s carries now. It was hard to pick.
Now you’ve made me hungry, @romanigypsyeyes . I may have to change my lunch plans.
I’m sitting at the airport with no hummus in sight. I want hummus now lol.
We’re off to our long-awaited “honeymoon” in Florida. Going to take our baby reveal pics at Galaxy’s Edge and I’m so excited.
Airports usually have that mini Sabra hummus with the pretzels in a little container on top. Not bad for airport food.
We have a place near us called Tal’s hummus. Excellent hummus and even better pita - little little clouds of doughy joy!
Because of this thread, had hummus for dinner and tabouleh! It was at a local Greek place and pretty good.
Have a great time, Romani, Mr R and baby Jedi!
If you are headed for the SE corner of FL, message,e privately
I’m having tabbouleh tomorrow! Not a hummus fan.
Enjoy your trip!
I can also confirm that @romanigypsyeyes lives in the land of hummus. I am not too far away and here too authentic middle eastern food is plentiful and AMAZING.
Enjoy your trip - hope it’s not too hot!
I had to be hospitalized for dehydration when I was pregnant the first time. It’s the only time of my life when a doctor told me she didn’t care if I ate potato chips, I needed to eat. I lost weight through the 6th month. He was born 8 lb 14 oz so clearly he got what he needed from me.
I think if you listen to your body it will tell you what you need. I make homemade hummus from dried beans and all. It’s amazing.
11.5 weeks in now.
We publicly announced on Monday to overwhelming support. I was truly blown away. We asked an older woman to take our picture for the reveal and when she realized what it was, she started crying. And because I’m a hormonal mess, so did I.
It was a nice reminder that even though parts of my legal family aren’t supportive, I have more than enough chosen family that I will never feel unsupported.
Other honeymoon highlights, since I’ve checked off a bunch of bucket list items: swam with a dolphin, kissed a dolphin, made a lightsaber, and swam alongside otters.
The dolphin very gently booped my belly and the trainer explained they can “see” pregnancies and they’re curious about them. I know it’s super early but I could’ve sworn I felt the baby when I was with the dolphin. It felt like a super tiny fish fluttering around. It was only for a second and I haven’t felt it since but it was memorable.
I’m sad that we leave early tomorrow morning but I’m ready to get home to my pupper.
My appetite has picked up and I’m in the stage of I WANT TO EAT EVERYTHING. We’re going to Epcot shortly so this will be fun with my appetite in full force.
Our 12 week u/s is Monday and then we have our next obgyn appt after. We were supposed to get the results from a blood test screening for some genetic disorders that run in my family. Unfortunately there was an error so we’ll have to take it again and wait ~2 more weeks. But I’m ready to see my little Jedi again on Monday.
Glad you had a great trip and wonderful support IRL. Best wishes going forward.
12 week scan went well. Everything looks ok according to the tech. I’m measuring at exactly 12 weeks.
I now have one again in 6 weeks and every week after until 28 weeks lol.
