anybody thinking about bringing their own desk chair since the one they provide is wooden and horrendous to sit on? is there room in the dorm for that? and if so, what would u do with the school-issued one?

you could buy a cushion :). thats what they are for.

but if you got one, i dont think room would be an issue, chairs are chairs, and even if you get a fancy one, it shouldnt be too much larger than the standard issue one.

but what you should do with the one they give you? i have no idea.

Id go to school and see how it is first, then if its that Uncomfortable for you, then you could order one online from Staples or officemax. They have freedelivery also.

i doubt there would be room for an extra chair and desk. And most colleges don't let you move out their furniture without written approval.

the author of the thread isnt looking to bring a chair and desk SEWcurious. just to clarify, he/she is only looking to bring a chair.

and to answer your question ontheroad, you can definitely bring your own chair

you can bring your own chair and store the standard issue chair somewhere else but make sure u have it at the end of the year or you'll get fined.

Keep the other chair around; your friends can use it if you have them over to study or something. If you know you'll never use it, talk to housing about storing it.

My roommate last year brought her desk chair from home and set her other chair to the side. We just piled stuff on it or used it as extra seating when people came over.

I brought my own chair, there was plenty of room for 3 chairs (we used the other one as like the TV/guest chair. Then when my roommate and I bought a little couch, we just asked around if anyone wanted to borrow an extra chair, and one of the RAs said she would keep it till the year was over.

yeah, extra seating is always a plus for your dorm room... it makes it more inviting, especially if you have people over to watch movies or do homework.
