Room mates and receptions

Has anyone gotten the room mate assignments yet? My S hasn’t, and we were wondering…

Also, the materials for Orientation we got on June 10 said, “Currently we do not have a program for parents.” But the web site just added the link for Parent Reception. No real info there, so I emailed the contact person. But I was wondering if anyone else had heard anything!

I think I read that the roomate assignments get e-mailed July 31.
I wish they did have a parent program for orientation- I'm guessing the parent reception is pretty informal. I do plan to go though.
Is your son getting excited? I know my D is having fun planning what to take!

Guys are pretty strange. He isn't talking about it. But he did put himself on facebook, and opened his email.... I think he just wants to leave and get it (the "big move" etc) done with.

My D was bubbling with enthusiasm and Bed Bath and Beyond trips around this time 4 years ago. It's so different! Enjoy it!

Thanks for the info on the room-mate emails. I'll watch for that, and if I hear anything about the parent reception I'll post it.

The website seems to have been updated over the weekend, so though there still isn't much info on the reception it's a little clearer that it will happen! Appetizers and cocktails. Students will be in their hall meetings (appetizers and cocktails? ;-) and we will be in the parents meetings.

We are watching for the roomie email. Post if you get one!

AT the MM audition in March we fell into the reception by accident. It was really, really nice. The food was very good and being in an old mansion on the upper-east side was really cool. Even though we weren't there for the reception they invited us in anyway and they were really nice.(we also got nifty-gifties!) Who ever is going there is going to have a blast. My s chose a different school. MM didn't fit our budget but his good friend is going for BFA acting so I'm sure he will spend a lot of time there!!! Good luck every one and break-a- leg!!!!

Thanks, IBEE! (I remembered, for no reason, that your S is going to Montclair, right? It sounds like a very fabulous place too.) Best of luck as the countdown winds down.

So, we got the room-mates! Very exciting. He is in a group of 4 guys. Any word for you, PATheatre? I take it from your moniker that you are in Pennsylvania. One of the guys in S's rooming group is too. It will be great to meet guys from all over the country, all over the world!

We havent' got anything yet- did you get by mail or e-mail? That will be fun for our kids to room with others from all over

We got it by email. It was sent to the family email, not the kids' new mmm email, so check whatever you have been using during the app. process. His move-in date is the 26th, so maybe they sent out the info to the later move ins first? (Wild non-supported-by-any-rational-thought guess!) Or since there are so many fewer boys, they sent the boys' out first?

Hope you get yours soon. Not knowing was creating some stress here (actually it's the entire unknown that's creating the stress: college, NYC, being 3000 miles from home, etc.) but getting some info today took the pressure cooker down a few degrees.

Came today! She's in a apartment with three others and moves in on the 25th. I guess they will need to coordinate with their suite mates about kitchen stuff etc...
Are you going to fly in and ship some of your stuff?

The three other guys are from the east coast, so I think they'll work it out so they bring some of the big stuff. One of the guys apparently likes to cook, so he may end up bringing some kitchen equipment. My s is very handy with a microwave...;-)

I told my boy he needs a backpack and two suitcases and he said what are the suitcases for? (males....)

I figured I'd mail a box with the sheets and towels, and put the printer in there. I mean, how else do you mail a printer? or take it on the plane?

And Bed Bath etc has a thing where you can go and pick things out, say, here in Calif and then pick them up in NYC. So, if I can persuade him to go to BBB with me, we'll do that.

Is this your first to go off to college?
