roomate assignments

Our son just received a package from Martel with roomate and room assignment info. He is studing it in great detail, but hasn't shared any info with his folks yet (I can't blame him for wanting to have his privancy, although I am nosey and remembering my first days as a freshman in college).

Anyway the point is that this info is now being sent out. Hope everyone waiting for this info gets theirs soon and that it is all good news.

Don ... that would make me crazy! Luckily, my son didn't have a problem with letting us see the info that arrived. Hopefully you've had a chance by now.

My son got his yesterday, and, yes, mom's happy knowing what room he's going to be in and who his suitemates/roommates are. (And, don't ask me why it should put my mind at rest knowing what room he is in. I know it's nuts, intellectually, but emotionally, I just feel good about it.) ;)

Yes, he studied his packet late into the night and left it on the kitchen table for us to study this morning when we got up. It looks absolutely wonderful. It almost makes me wish I was going back to school.

Yes, I would definitely like to go back to school after seeing the O-Week book. I went to Carnegie Mellon, and it was NOWHERE near as social as Rice!

I'm going to be a sophomore at Rice. He's going to love it. As for the roommate info...just let him know it's just one of those things mom need to know...for emergencies or something. Let him know it's not that you are wanting to invade his privacy, you just would like to know where he will be sleeping for a year! If you are going to be going with him on move in day, then you will be able to see his room and his roommates. If you have any questions, fell free to ask.

I guess I'm not being fair to him. The two parents and two siblings looking over his shoulders as he opened the package would be enough to drive anyone to some privacy. The next morning the bulk of the package was there for us. Now it has become a running joke. He has told us all except for roomate names. So I'm teasing him about who they are and he is having fun temporary withholding names. I'm new at this blog stuff, and haven't learned to show humor and nuance in the written word.

Heh. My parents got my roommate stuff and college assignment while I was away for a week...they read it all then called me to tell me :P
