Okay everyone, here is yet another post about rooming with the opposite sex. So its sophomore year now and I currently live on-campus. Its about that time when everyone begins signing their leases for new apartments. Here is my situation: I have a friend (girl) who i somewhat liked back in freshman year and then she made it clear to me that she did not like me so I began to stop liking her. We are like best friends now and our relationship is like brother/sister. She is currently living off-campus by her self and is planning on living with 2 other girls next year (one of them is my friend and she is cool, the other seems cool also). All of my other friends have rooming arrangements for next year except for me. She asked me if i would like to room with her and her friends next year. Btw she is hot and her 2 friends are cute, and I dont think i would begin to like her roommates because that would get awkward. Should I just go for it and sign the lease with them now (if you sign early you get a big discount), or should I wait and see what other options open up for me? And what are your experiences with rooming with the opposite sex? Pros/Cons?

you win jackpot.

call the pitboss

Keep this in mind, and you should be fine.

I’ve had roommates of both sexes. It’s really not a big deal.

too much estrogen i think.

If you are the kind of guy that manages friendships with girls very well, and they manage friendships with guys, it could be fun. At times I agree there may be too much estrogen but if you’re a laid back kind of guy you can probably handle it, and maybe you’ll take the edge off the situation.

I would make sure she didn’t tell you it was okay assuming the other girls wouldn’t mind though, because if I thought I was rooming with two girls and someone invited a guy in as well I don’t think I’d be comfortable with that.

I’m a guy I live with 2 girls and a guy (who is rarely there) in an apartment. It’s no big deal.

If you’re going into it thinking ‘Man, think of all the tail I’m going to be getting!’ I’d say no. Roommate relationships gone sour are almost irreparable.

If you’re okay with them probably hogging the bathroom most morning and like your friend enough, sure?

Honestly, I’d check with your parents before committing to something like that, especially if they’re paying for any aspect of your college education. I’m sure there are plenty who would cut funds to force their kid to move.

I’ve had for a semester lived with 2 girls in an off-capus apartment, each in its own room. Later we lived in other apartment, 2 XY and 2 XX, it was ok.

In fact, I loved the whole idea: if people are respectful, the space gets more organized and people usually do ok.

I strongly advise you, though, to be strictly adherent of your “no-dating” policy. I have a (female) friend who happend to “get a crush” on an exchange guy who was living in her apartment (with other 2 girls). Things got bad when she was turned back by this guy and started pushing her faltmates to “expell” him.

Just make sure they are COMPLETELY OUT before you make any moves, if you know what I mean.

Well, as long as you know that you’re friends and friends only, and if you’re always in your right state of mind, it shoudl be fine, right?

just don’t let them see the morning wood and you’re all good, cuz then you’ll just send them mix messages

way to awkward. I’d say no.

One thing to consider is if/when you get a girlfriend, whether or not that arrangement would cause drama, and/or if potential girlfriends would be turned off by it-- if you care about that sort of thing. Most of the girls I know would not be pleased about their boyfriend living with other women, no matter how innocent the arrangement may be. Two of my cousins attempted it and while they didn’t end up single they had some majorly ****ed off girlfriends. Unless I was good friends with the girls myself I don’t know that I’d date a guy that lived with a bunch of girls.
