My daughter is actively searching for roommates to share housing in Towers starting in the Fall. Other than the housing portal, what resources are your students using to identify potential roommates who might be a good fit? She’s an outgoing STEM major who loves music, theater, video games, makeup and jewelry and needs to find a supportive LGBTQ+ community. Roommates don’t necessarily also have to be LGBTQ+ — just not homophobic. Any suggestions for her situation? Or feel free to PM me.
UCF’s roommate matching system works fine, and that’s what I would use. Once they find someone compatible, they can exchange Instagram, Snapchat, FB info and get a pretty clear idea of what the other girls are really like.
I think the key is to be patient and stick to what she needs. Be honest and don’t settle. Good matches will not be difficult.
That worked very well for my daughter. So well, in fact, that she and her roommates are moving off-campus together in the Fall. (They’re at Epcot together today, BTW!)
Great advice as usual! Thanks!
