Housing quesiton...

How hard is it to get a single room? I'm assuming its hard to get one of the single efficiency rooms in the the towers since there are only 12 of them & I would like to be in the towers, and I prefer a single in there over any of the other dorms. Also is the roomate matching system accurate? I've heard some complaints from people getting the total opposite of what they requested in a roomate. I've been to the school on a tour, but didn't get to see the towers housing tour. Thanks & please help..im an out of state transfer student also if that helps or makes a difference

I can’t answer the question about the single room but I know that UCF does not use a roommate matching system because it only gets peoples hopes up of getting the perfect roommate. If you want to find a roommate before hand, there are many groups on facebook with people looking for roommates or you could join ■■■■■■■■.com ( a site for roommate matching). Then, once you find someone, you can preference them on your myucf account. Otherwise, you will just be matched up randomly. Hope this helps you! :)

Sonia, If you are a freshman coming from out of state, are you sure you want a single room? It’s tough starting out at a new school especially from out of state and if you separate yourself that much it may be even more difficult to meet people. I know it’s tough sharing a room with someone but it’s also a great way to meet someone new as well as have someone to talk to and go out and do things with. Even if you don’t hit it off, you can always try to change later or stick it out for the year and then do your thing. But I have to say that having a roommate really is part of the college experience and teaches some great lessons on how to live with and get along with someone. Just a thought…

I dont feel like I’ll be really seperating myself from other people. I have already had the roomate experience before college. When I would go to summer camps and basketball camps we had to have roomates and live in dorms on a college campus & I’ve done this 6 times and each time I didn’t like it or just didn’t get along with roomates. I just know that I would be more comfortable this way and I could make friends with people around the school during or after classes. I just dont want to take the chance in having a bad roomate experience again, and I would rather be safe than sorry by avoiding those type of situations. Each time I had roomates they were either stealing from me, using my stuff without my permission like eating all my food up and running my cell phone bill up to $600 and just either being rude or mean on purpose. But anyways does anybody know the answer to my question on if it would hard or not to get the single room & also when you choose your dorm or apartment can you choose the exact floorplan you want?

Its also nice how I got 52+++ views & only 2 replies…I know somebody out there or on here can help but thanks to the people who are trying anyways

From what I have learned from others, getting a single room as a freshman in other housing complexes other than the Towers is difficult because they are reserved for upper-classmen and are usually in high demand. In some cases freshies can be lucky. In my opinion if you truly want a single room really bad you should look to UCF affiliated off campus housing.

I applied for the 4/2 in the towers for the fall, spring and summer 2012.
And I applied for the 4/2 at nikee/hercules for summer 2011.

My housing agreement was made on 12/14/10 so hopefully I get what I requested.
