Hi guys, I'm having a bit of a roommate conundrum.. I'll be in Dean's Scholars at UT, so I want to live in the Honors Quad. I have gotten conflicting answers when I've asked people whether it'll be possible for me to room with a friend who isn't in an honors program. What do you guys think? Can it be done? If not, I'm perfectly fine putting myself up for random selection. Thanks!

Of course it can. Neither my roommate nor me is part of an honors program, and both of us are living together in Blanton.

Grandpa, are you in a FIG or what? Isn't the entire point of Honors housing that it's for honors students?

Nope. My roommate is an architecture major, and since there is no defined honors program for it, he was one of the selected ones to get honors housing. After meeting him at orientation, we added each other to get the same dorm, and fortunately for me we landed in Blanton.

Ok, so let me get this straight.

I got into BHP. I have a classmate who's not in Honors, but I want to room with him. Do I just need to specify that I want Honors housing and have us both designate each other as roommates for this to happen?

~Thx

Lol, that's pretty much what I did. However, nothing is guaranteed. I think there were some extra dorms available last year, so that's why I got honors. However, this year more freshman may want honors, so the situation may be different.
