Does anyone know how to use UGA's housing website? I was accepted early action, and I paid the $35 housing deposit and filled out the questionnaire they use to match you to potential roommates that you would be compatible with, but I don't really know where to go from there. When you find a roommate that the site says would be a good match, is there a way to contact them through the website without requesting them as your roommate right off the bat? Also, if anyone knows, is there some kind of etiquette that goes along with this process? Do most people wait until the spring to start looking for roommates? December just seems a little early to me.

I do remember one thing about the dawg house, don’t wait. My son did and everyone he contacted had already found a roommate.
You have probably already looked at this link:
[Roommate Matching | UGA Housing](http://housing.uga.edu/residence/register/roommate-matching)

To contact someone on The Dawghouse website, you click your name at the top right corner, click Messages, click New Message, and then type in the screen name of the person you’d like to contact in the ‘To’ line! Hope that helped!

Thanks, this is exactly what I needed!

No problem! I had the same problem, it took me awhile too!

I would also find a roommate ASAP, because people go quick!

Also, what do you do if you may not attend UGA? I’m applying to Notre Dame, Cornell, and Boston College (all have great B-schools), and won’t hear back until March/April. Is it appropriate to agree to room with someone only if you don’t go somewhere else? I presume a lot of other students who got in early action are in this same situation, it just seems a little odd to me to essentially say ‘Hey, you seem cool; we should room together. Just wait five months until I find out where I’m going for sure.’

Yes, as a common rule. There are, however, some people who are waiting until regular decisions come out before deciding on a roommate, so I wouldn’t completely rule out the decision. Just keep in mind that most people searching for a roommate at this time have UGA as their first choice!

Make sure you go ahead and pay the housing deposit though! That holds your place in priority. You’ll want to do that before the flood of regular decisions are let out.

Amandaphoria, I m a little confused. If you choose a roommate, does UGA use the earliest registration of the roommate pair for purposes of dorm placement, or use the latest registration of the roommate pair. My son registered back in the fall and wants to live in the Meyers Honors dorm, but his preferred roommate only recently registered. If he wants to live in Meyers, would be be out of luck with this roommate?

If two honors freshman want to live at Myers, they are guaranteed a spot no matter their registration date. However for other dorms, they have changed the system. Priority used to be evaluated by the later registration date of the two roommates. Now it is the earlier date. If his roommate is not in honors, living at Myers is possible but highly unlikely and he should contact the honors program to see what can be done.
