Can anyone give advice on the number of Indian international students or students of Indian background at Rose Hulman, and on the possibilities for sharing/maintaining Indian culture, diet, etc? I have grown up in the US but follow Indian customs. Thank you for your help.

Hello!

I am a US born student of Indian descent at Rose. There are some international Indian students in the undergraduate program, but i have met many more in the masters program offered at Rose. Within the undergraduate population, there are probably <5 US born Indians per grade. You definitely need to be outgoing if you want to meet those other students, but there are cultural organizations and events that can be helpful for meeting other Indian students and faculty at Rose.

I have been raised in a traditional Indian home and I have not had too much trouble with my diet. Our dining services can accommodate vegetarian needs or any other restrictions if they are informed. Additionally, there are a couple Indian restaurants in town which offer a few good Indian dishes. As for myself, I tend to cook when I want to eat Indian food. Every residence hall is equipped with a kitchen.

My biggest issue is that there are no temples in Terre Haute. The closest temples are in Bloomington which is a little over an hour away. It has definitely been a challenge for me to move here, but I think that I have managed just fine.

I hope this helps!
