Ross Pre-admit

Yes…called Admissions today.

Just called admissions as well. I was notified of the same information as karendude. The lady said they just need more time to evaluate applicants because of the unexpectedly large number of applicants. I’m not sure why they would email us saying this if people already started receiving acceptance letters though. Perhaps it’s just a nice way of communicating a rejection?

I am thinking the same thing since some people were already admitted. Maybe they are waiting to see if anyone drops after the the RD decisions come in. Then they can offer the spots to those people who got the email today. I wonder if everyone who applied to Ross got the email…

I doubt Ross would bother sending you an email like that if they seriously weren’t interested in you anymore. I think the email is just to let applicants know that they’re still under consideration so that applicants won’t lose all interest in Ross, start thinking about other options, and decide not to attend UMich when they’re suddenly admitted a few weeks from now.

I applied EA somewhere other than UMich and was deferred, and now I’m not even considering going to that other place if I’m accepted (though if I had applied regular, never got the deferral, and got accepted, I’d probably go). Colleges letting you know they’re still interested in you, even if the decision hasn’t been made yet, makes a huge difference in the matriculation rate.

FWIW, when I applied in 2010, I applied RD and didn’t hear back about that til like March 23rd, then didn’t hear about my PA acceptance until April 4th-ish or some ****.

my stats were 4.7w/4.0 uw, 2250 SATs, no business extracurrics but i had held a job for 2.5 years throughout high school.

My year they definitely released the decisions in batches though

I applied PA to Ross and didn’t get the “we’re still considering you” email that others recently got. FWIW I got accepted to LSA about a month ago, so not EA. I suppose I still have several more weeks to wait…

This is nerve-racking.

Did everyone write their essay on Ross? I only devoted one paragraph of my essay to it, with the rest of it on LSA. I figured that I needed to get into LSA first before even being considered for Ross, but I kinda wish I had written more extensively about why I want to go to Ross

(Someone I know who was accepted wrote their entire Why UMich essay on Ross…)

i wrote my entire why umich solely on ross. i believe it said something about doing that if u want preadmit. i was accepted as a preadmit last week.

I wrote my whole essay on Ross. However my “whole essay” consisted of two or three very short paragraphs. My common app and community essays were much better, so I have a feeling the Why Umich/Ross essay isn’t taken as strongly into consideration.

Btw guys, chances are I won’t be accepting the offer (the school feels a bit too big for me), so hopefully that can open up a Ross PA space for one of you guys. Good luck!

How do you compare Ross with other top business schools (NYU, UVa, USC, Notre Dame, UC Berkeley, etc) in terms of BBA?

Better than them all!

Regrets, regrets, regrets…

In terms of actual quality, I would say Haas = Ross = McIntire = Stern > Marshall = Mendoza.

However, in terms of job placement, I think all of those programs are excellent. I would go with whichever program makes most financial sense.

Fit is very important too. Which campus/area appeals to you the most. Ann Arbor, Berkeley, Charlottesville, LA, NYC and South Bend are all very different from each other.

Also, where do you want to work when you graduate? If you wish to work in Southen California, obviously, Marshall would be the best choice. If you want to work in Northern California, Haas would be best. If you want to work in NYC, McIntire, Ross and Stern are all good. In the Midwest, Mendoza and Ross are both very strong.

Nobody got a rejection yet, right?

I got my acceptance via email on March 15, 2012 under LSA. I am looking forward to apply to Ross… will I also get an email of preferred admission to Ross?

Any decisions released THIS week?

I have not yet begun to fight.

Hey, just FYI, I got my acceptance last Monday-ish. I’m probably giving it up though. The good thing about Ross is that you can still apply for admission after the first year, so don’t give up!

Congratz to everyone that got in.

I got accepted but my friend said he got waitlisted, which was weird considering this was just a program. didn’t expect a targeted Ross preferred class size.
