Hey guys, I just got waitlisted! Anyone know what are my chances? I already committed to Michigan but if anyone has advice like reaching out in order to be at the top of the waitlist that’d be great! Thanks!
Just4school. You are a pre-admit for Ross and you are still considering USC?
Does anyone know what the tuition costs for Ross will be for next year? Looks like UMich raises tuition 6-10% a year decided by the state in August and the upper classman increase is about 5K for Ross. Did anyone call the school to get an idea if the Ross tuition will be about the same as the Ivy League?
nnn12345. The SOM does not decide tuition rate increases, the individual school does. Michigan raised its tuition 2.7% last year. Michigan is an elite school, that it charges OOS students tuition comparable to the Ivy League should not come as a surprise at all.
Yes, Ross is well worth the 67-70K that it will cost next year for out of state, comparable to the Ivy League. Aren’t tuition increases decided by the State of Michigan in August? Doesn’t data for the last two years show a 5.6% annual increase for the University? Where did you see the 2.7% increase? Hopefully, this year will also only have a 2.7% increase in tuition, if that data is correct.

The tuition increase, set by the regents - not the state, averaged 2.7% for in state and 3.7% for OOS. This differed by college.
For Ross undergraduate last year, the OOS tuition was $44k year for lower division (under 54 credits) and $49k year for over 54 credits.
Add on what you will for room, board, books, travel, etc.
The regents haven’t determined the increase that would start this Fall.

Have any of the wait listed candidates heard? This program is so popular, I doubt that any one will get in off of the waitlist.
@nnn12345
Was rejected yesterday after being placed on the waitlist. Received an email stating my decision had been finalized.
Same here. For decisions to come out this early means that the yield was higher than expected. Wonder what it means for next year if they possibly over enrolled for this year. How many more spots will they have available for freshman admits?
They’re slowly expanding the class size, so keep your head up guys! You can apply and get in regular admission.
Will wait listed candidates have an advantage? Otherwise there will probably be 2000 applicants for about 350 spots. What about a business minor? How many applicants get accepted? The advisor said it was even more competitive than the business major.
Not sure if Weightlisted candidates have an advantage, but you shouldn’t worry as much about the RD Acceptance rate for freshmen. It’s roughly 40%. For a business minor however, it’s much more difficult. Only 50 of them are accepted.
I don’t see how it could matter. It’s your freshman-year performance that will be evaluated.
The math isn’t adding up for me. Can someone help with this? How many freshman end up applying and how many are accepted in June of freshman year? Don’t some freshman want Ross but can’t get a 3.7 GPA so they drop their ambitions? Including these students, seems like about 2000 want business but there will only be about 350 spots. 40 percent acceptance would imply that only 850 apply.
Many who were not pre admit won’t even enroll at Michigan. Some will not bother bc they changed focus. I would imagine many engineering kids don’t bother applying, and stick to COE.
Yes, the rate is 40%, so the number applying will be the inverse.

@nnn12345 - see attached profile. 1284 applied last year after freshman year with 473 acceptances - 37% acceptance rate.
Thanks. Historically those were true but the numbers are changing so until the new numbers come out…
Historically? Those are last the admit numbers from the last admitted class from last summer.
250 preadmits. Class size of 600. Leaves 350 spots for freshman. Maybe a few preadmits won’t get a 3.3 and drop but maybe class is over enrolled for this preadmit class. About 2000 kids in freshman year want Ross. Many drop due to lower than desired GPAs and don’t even apply. If 1250 do apply and there are about 350 spots. Acceptance rate is way lower than 40 percent.
