Roundtrip Bus from FSU to S. FL locations

Yet another vote for the Red Bus-
If you can, book early and reserve the single seats on the right side of the bus.
I swear the seats are bigger and more comfy on the right side. !

WARNING TO PARENTS!!! My daughter will be transferring to FSU in the fall and decided to take the GMG/TMT bus from South Florida to Tallahassee last Friday, 3/2/12. I called GMG/TMT to see if there were any openings; they said the bus was full from South Florida to Tall but we could go on standby. My daughter also called them several hours later because their website indicated two different arrival times in Tall - 6:30 and 8:30pm. The girl answering said the bus would arrive at 8:30. We went on standby; she got on the bus. I personally went to the bus driver to pay, and said “is there room, and are you going to Tallahassee?” He said yes to both. Needless to say they never went to Tallahassee. They said “sorry” but we were never going to Tallahassee. They drove her to the Greyhound Bus Terminal in Gainesville, 2 1/2 hours away and dropped her off!!! She even offered to pay them additonal money to drive her. This was her first time on the bus, and they left a student alone without any transporation. She waited till 9:15pm, purchased a bus ticket, and arrived at 12:30am the next day in Tallahassee. This company should not be in business!!! I will be notifying all colleges that recommend them, and the news media that this company would willingly abandon a student at night in a strange city.

I wont use any other company but RedCoach, the passengers dont bother you, most of them are sleeping or on their computers and since RedCoach only has 26 or 27 seats the bus is never crowded. I also “liked” them on Facebook so I’m one of the first to know about promos and discounts

My daughter has been using redcoach from tally to Orlando for about a year (over a dozen times) worth it for us with gas prices. Anyway, the pickup on campus but orlando’s drop off is near the airport, we prefer over our local greyhound terminal. When I book online, u pick seat at that time. Most ( maybe all) buses ate three seats across. They have wi- fi so she can do homework, etc. She takes one that leaves orl around 11:30 pm and arrives 4:20 am, so she can sleep on her trip back to tally. Not sure if that is a schedule they have daily.

I am looking for the best way for my son to get from
tallahassee to Fort Lauderdale at the end of Summer session C-
August 10, 2012.

Flying is the best way. There are direct flights from Tallahassee to Ft Lauderdale. If that’s out of your price range, there are couple bus companies that make trips to Tallahassee: GMG, Greyhound, and Redcoach.

Red coach is great! There is also an FSU ride share group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/143265875719461/

Anything in and out of the Tallahassee airport is an arm and a leg. If he can’t hitch a ride with a friend or someone in the FB group, Red Coach looks to be a very comfortable ride and quite time efficient considering it’s a bus service. Never been on it before.

I live in Boynton Beach and my daughter lived on campus without a car freshman year. TMT was a lifesaver for us, you have to book early because holidays and heavy travel days fill up quickly, we never had any problems and it was convenient to pick her up at turnpike toll plazas, she would call as she was getting close. I wouldn’t risk being on standby though. Returning from spring break last year, she drove her car and because of rain, ended up alone on the turnpike with a totaled car due to hydroplaning into a four car accident :frowning: I WISH she’d been on the bus! We had plans to meet in Orlando the next month and with no car, she had to use red coach, their web site is VERY confusing, but she called and spoke to a real person who helped her out, I picked her up in Orlando. I was grateful for BOTH services and never had a problem, and she never complained. Hope that helps :)

Any suggestions for transportation between FSU and Jacksonville?

RedCoach is the best in terms of service, cleanliness, and atmosphere. Stay away from the others. Good luck.

Unfortunately Red Coach does not go to Jacksonville…

Greyhound has buses going to Jax. The Tallahassee Greyhound station is a short walk from FSU on Tennessee. Greyhound has a 1:55 p.m. departure from Tally that gets in Jax about 4:55 p.m. with a 10 minute stop in Lake City on the way. About $45 fare. There are other scheduled departures–just make sure you don’t get on the route that goes thru Gainesville and Ocala or you’ll be in for an 8 hour adventure stopping at every other gas station bus stop in north central Florida.

A bus is a bus; it can’t be that bad a trip!

So would I be correct in assuming that it would be best for me to take RedCoach instead of TMT?

Side note: saw a TMT bus go by yesterday, looked ancient.
