Route to Management Consulting

Hi,

I would like to find out the following:

What undergraduate majors are most preferred or suitable for management consulting? Whether in helping towards MBA admissions or in recruitment?

Is getting an MBA the only way of getting the job?

As getting an MBA requires job experience, what type of job is most preferred/suitable for management consulting (for working between college and MBA)?

Thanks!

can someone help to answer the above? bump!

1) none super preferred, though quantitative can sometimes be nicer

2) no

3) therefore, not applicable (and mba is often used as a career-changer)

Undergrads can be hired. They will typically have attended top colleges, have very high GPAs and have high SAT scores (yes, most will ask). Major is dependent on the group doing the hiring. An engineering major will do well for technology clients, an IR major for international marketing assignments–it just depends what they’re hiring for.

In general, they’re just looking for the best and brightest.

are there any statistics on the distribution of schools or college majors of the top management consulting firms?

hmom,

Is the ACT score viewed in the same light as SAT scores by these management consulting companies? Thanks!
