@College2018Hopeful, maybe timing of acceptance depends on what program your child applied to. They can email their admissions rep to ask the status. Stats are very good!
Hope your right! Emailed Admissions this morning so we will see. Also, merit aid seems a bit lower that from a couple years ago?
Looks like merit will be much lower…D got accepted last night, but no mention of merit. Called today and they confirmed merit would have been in the acceptance letter. They also changed the website to say Honors college now requires a 3.9 unweighted with no SAT requirement. Too bad because it’s the family school but she won’t consider it without merit or honors college.
Major psychology
GPA 3.85 weighted at a to pay NJ public, 1320 SAT, 8 honors, 4 APs total, (2 this year 2 with 5’s on both from last year).
Wow! Sounds like a major change! That really puts kids taking Honors & AP classes at a disadvantage - what a shame. Any idea how they calculate unweighted GPA? (i.e. for some schools >90 is a 4.0, and others it’s more like >93)
@scritch I spoke with financial aid. Would probably have to give admissions a call to ask about the weighting. I said the same thing - if D hadn’t taken AP and honors she would have been better off because her GPA would have been higher! A 3.9 unweighted seems a bit crazy for honors.
@Andrearod I’m sure covid played a huge roll. My son’s a senior there. They reduced tuition 10% this year, lost a ton on housing and meal plans. I forget what the deficit was, but it was huge. Still disappointing!!
For those invited to honors did you receive an email after acceptance ?
@catmele I don’t think honors invites come out until January
Spoke with admissions. You can submit grades this year and they will reevaluate for merit scholarships.
How does choice of major impact admissions? If a kid is denied for their first choice school (i.e. Engineering) can they reapply for a different school??
@HMom16 my friend’s son applied last year and didn’t get into the business program, but was accepted into his second choice major he had on his application.
Rowan’s merit aid has definitely decreased over the last several years as demand for the college has risen. Just to set the expectation - this is not 2016 money being given out. It is still a well priced, high value school, but not the bargain it was a few years ago. Stockon University is now the place to look if you are chasing merit money. Not as good of a school, but they are trying to do what TCNJ and then Rowan did before them - entice high quality kids to come there and grow from there.
Many OOS and private schools will probably come in lower than Rowan now. They did for D18, and she had much lower stats than S21.
Nephew was just admitted to his second choice major! No idea about money yet…
Funny, seems everyone says merit aid was with acceptance. My son was accepted, but no mention of aid.
4.0 GPA with all honors and AP for core subjects
1440 SAT
Eagle Scout
No merit aid?
Mine was posted later in Status Page
Is GPA weighted or unweighted?
How satisfied is everyone with their awarded merit scholarship from Rowan? Has anyone tried appealing for more?
My sons was 4.0 unweighted. His school is out of 100, and weighted he is 103
