Originally my son didn’t get any, his stats are listed above. He appealed and was offered $7200. Highest one of his friends got was $7500. Seems awfully low compared to previous years.
A few years ago these stats would have been at least full tuition. Waiting to here from some more selective schools like John’s Hopkins and see what they offer
My son has higher SAT with similar grades. He received 6k which from what I understand would have been much higher a few years ago.
Yup. And depending on the major, some get less. They feel their engineering department is in such high demand, they are getting even less. He is applying to the honors college there too, so we will see if tht comes with more merit aid
@mattdelp Rowan away with full rides a while ago. The last few years has been $10k max. They have a huge budget deficit since Covid, and lowered tuition 10% this year, so I’m not surprised awards are down. But it does make it a hard sell! My son is a senior there, both my husband and I Are alumni, but D21 has pretty much crossed it off with no merit. Good luck with your other other schools!
My daughter applied to JHU 2 years ago, 34 ACT, 9 AP’s, the rest honors, one B, one B+, rejected.
Trust me, not counting on John’s Hopkins, but would be nice! Likely
Fordham will even be cheaper now.
Multiple higher ranked OOS schools are offering lower COA than Rowan.
D’s portal was updated yesterday and now shows $3500 in merit.
@NJWrestlingmom That’s great! Did you inquire about merit? Was there notification of this via email?
My daughter had reached out to her admissions rep the day decisions came out but never heard back. I told her to check her portals every once in a while just to make sure nothing changed, and last night she saw the merit. No email or anything telling her about it. Kind of strange, but we’ll take it! She had pretty much crossed it off at full price, but now she’s keeping it in the mix!
Good to know. Thank you.
@mattdelp who did you appeal to? Congrats to your son!
Sorry I just saw this. Haven’t been on much. He told me he emailed the person who signed his acceptance letter… Hope that helps
NJ is a joke, my Son can go to Widener or Ursinus for less than Rowan or Stockton LOL
He’s also a recruited athlete. For the average full pay kid, the state schools can be some of the most affordable. They were for my S17.
D3 no athletic money
I know, but they have movement on merit if they want you. A teammate of my son with much lower stats got more merit from the same school because he was being heavily recruited. Especially at the smaller LAC, I’ve seen athletes pull in more merit that seemed normal for their stats.
I would recommend everyone check their acceptance letter again for added merit money. My son and two of his friends just got more money with no notification. It’s in the body of the acceptance letter.
Thanks…yep added 3K per year, with no notification. An application for honors college appeared, also with no notification.
Congrats! Strange Rowan is not notifying of increase in merit.
