My daughter was accepted to Rowan, Lehigh and Villanova for Chemicals engineering. At first, we encouraged her to apply to Rowan just to have a state school on her list. It turns out that finances are going to play a big role. Rowan ranks pretty high in chemical engineering but is that going to be enough to get her a good job after college. On the other hand, is it worth 80 to 100,000 in loans to go to one of the other two schools?

I am biased. Our son will grad Rowan in a few weeks with a ChemE degree and has a job waiting for him at a Fortune 100 company which he was offered back in September. Rowan’s undergrad ChemE program is recognized as top notch with small classes, all new facilities, no TA’s and at a price that is less than half the cost of Villanova or Lehigh. And Rowan gives generous merit aid in the form of grants not loans. We estimate our total cost for his four years at Rowan to be $40K, which covered tuition, fees, books and R&B. And nobody has any loans.

Good luck to your daughter. All three are great schools.

My son is planning on attending Rowan in the fall. I’ve recently read some things about campus that alarm me. Can some current students tell me if they feel safe on campus after dark? Is the area around campus safe? I heard no one goes out at night because it’s not safe! Thanks for any info

I would like to know as well. I am thinking about Rowan for my daughter. Can someone let us know if Rowan is safe at night?

As safe as anywhere else in America. But what’s important is will she FEEL safe? Visit and talk to other students and note the safety programs in place. To my knowledge, there was a serious incident a couple years ago, but it occurred at a conv store just off campus; perp was an outsider.
