I'm a junior at a very competitive high school (top 5 in state, top 75 in country) with a 3.6 GPA. I have a 2150 on the SATs and am trying to row in college. I have good national results and am currently at a 6:36 2k. What are magic numbers for rowing? Will being sub 6:30 by the end of summer at weight help a LOT? (I'm looking at all lightweight ivies at the moment)

Everything sounds good. I would really work at getting the GPA up as much as possible - 3.7 is obviously safer but I don’t know that there is a specific cutoff. SAT is good. ERG score is good especially if you are on the west coat or Florida where you row in the winter instead of erg. If you live where you erg all winter, coaches expect a kickass erg score. Is your club a competitive nationally recognized one? If so, all the better, but not a deal-breaker if not. You should be contacting all LWT programs now and keep in contact with updates as your season progresses. FWIW my kid committed to an IVY this year and the ERG scores for recruits ranged from 6:27 to 6:39 with other compensating factors (grades, big race experience and wins, other ECs, APs and transcripts), All recruits were academically very well-qualified so admissions did not have to stretch too hard.
