Hey! I've been searching through discussions to find info about the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland but I can't seem to find much... Does anyone have any experience with/information about the Royal Conservatoire? I auditioned in Chicago and recently received a guaranteed conditional offer. I didn't do in-depth research prior to my audition in case I wasn't accepted but now that it's a possibility, I would greatly appreciate any thoughts/information on the program's training, its reputation (if any) in the US (as it's a UK school), and the calibre of talent in its students... (of course I understand a school is only as good as you make it but still, added info is always good). Thank you!

RCS is a top program. IIt is a great honor you were accepted. Is this for drama or MT? Have you looked at their website and navigated through it? What questions do you have besides reputation?

Thank you for your reply, I got accepted for drama. And, yes, I have thoroughly read through the website, looked at the RCS youtube channel, etc. This question kind of relies on someone who may actually know students at the school, so I don’t know if you’re able to answer this but, I’m wondering whether students with extensive experience in the arts still feel very challenged at RCS? Another question would be about how American casting agents/directors/etc view UK schools in comparison to American schools? (or if there is any difference…) And also how hard it is for a UK trained/American citizen actor to come back to the states and form connections after being abroad…

Based on the website, the school would seem to have a very high level of training and challenge for its students but I don’t want that to be my only source of information.

My son was also accepted after audition in Chicago and I had similar questions. RCS has an International and Student Experience Team that you can contact at international@rcs.ac.uk.
The school responds very promptly to emails (next day!) and I Skype called them twice with questions and they were very helpful explaining visa, work restrictions, cost of living and housing. They mentioned that they now host a showcase in NY for their graduating actors in addition to showcases in London and Scotland.
They gave my email (with my permission) to a current american student (female from Michigan straight out of HS) who who promptly emailed me and offered to answer questions.
The school also suggested checking out their Facebook page because there is a group for international students.
Good luck with your decisions. If you learn more about the last half of your questions let us know.

My S was invited to their NYC showcase this April. He plans on going. It’s wonderful that they have the NYC showcase! How far are you guys from NYC? Maybe we can all meet :-)

We live in NC and I doubt we can swung another trip to NYC. If you go please let us know what you think.

You’ve got it, Tryin2support.

Thanks for the suggestion, nice to know they skyped with you to answer questions. And unfortunately I can’t make the showcase either but I second that, please let us know how it is!
