Seeking Information about Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

Threads on this school are old, looking for more current feedback. Any details like the school’s strengths and weaknesses, what the community is like, friendliness, what it’s like for international students… Really just any input about the program and the culture of the school. Thank you!

Following. I’m wanting pros &. cons for Guildford School of Acting and LIPA & RCS as well. Hopefully someone can share something with us!

I did a lot of research on this school because my daughter was very interested in attending. Ultimately, she decided that being across the pond for so long wasn’t what she wanted and she would just select a program that allowed for study abroad experiences.

I will say that everyone I spoke with regarding the school (mainly parents of current students) were very pleased. Their kids absolutely loved their experiences there, and only having to go for 3 years makes it financially attractive. The only negatives I heard was that it is so hard to get a Visa to stay that you have to return to the US after graduating (I think it was within 6 months) and that they didn’t do as much promoting of their students in the US and there wasn’t a true alumni network stateside.

While I’m glad that I am not having to have my girl in Scotland for three years, had she decided that was what she really wanted to do, I would have been very comfortable with the choice after all my research.

Another drawback to going abroad to consider: If you were to graduate with a BFA, BM etc. and wanted to advance your degree to a Masters etc., the course-work taken abroad may not align with the coursework in the states. This was one of our concerns when considering studying abroad.
