RPI Candidate's Choice

Hey everybody, how's it going? I just wanna know something. I just got an email from RPI saying I have Candidate's Choice Status. I'd like to ask:
1. Does this carry any significance in terms of acceptance (since it wasn't me who went out and asked)?
2. (Related) I heard there's a fee for people who want it, but that it's waived sometimes. Does the fact that they "selected" me mean that I get it free?
3. Does this have anything to do whatsoever with the RPI Medal? I don't know for sure, but I've been told informally that I came up, and for all I know I might've been the one to get it. Why was I the one who got it?
4. Is there any difference in the application between this and the Commonapp?

Thanks in advance guys

Many people get the Candidate’s Choice application for RPI. It is just a way for them to get their name out there. It has no impact on acceptance.

They used to waive the application fee with this, but I don’t think they do that any longer.

Your school selects who gets the RPI Medal from your school. It’s supposed to go to an outstanding math / science student.
