<p>my son is targeting aerospace engineering: he was accepted by RPI, Rose Hulman, and U of Maryland; U of Md is close by and does have a pretty good engineering program; he is not thrilled by the very small student body at Rose and he is a bit intimidated by RPI; big difference in $$ between Md state school and RPI; is it worth it ???</p>
<p>UMD aerospace ranked #9,10 in the nation. It's very good. RPI is good too, it's one of the oldest tech school. I don't know about rose hulman. Your son can have more choices at umd than RPI in case he doesn't like aerospace. But visit the schools. I can tell you more about maryland engineering since I'm in it.</p>
