Princeton just updated its website this Monday (August 8), and for SAT policy, it states "We recommend, but do not require, that all applicants for September 2006 entry take the new SAT Reasoning Test at least once. Score reports from the testing agency will include all of your SAT scores (old & new). We will consider your highest score for each component of the tests"

So, that mean for those who are applying this fall, new SAT is not a requirement, right?

OK, in March, when I asked the same question via email, Princeton Admission Officer replied "Test results from the current (soon to be old) version will still be acceptable and used along with, but not in lieu of, scores from the new version of the SAT 1. If you have already taken the old SAT I and your scores are higher than with the new SAT I, we will still accept the higher scores but we would like to see at least one score from the new SAT I. We will continue to require three (3) SAT 2 test results. If you have taken the SAT II writing test, you may use that as one of your three SAT II requirements even though it will no longer exist when you apply. The new SAT I has it's own writing portion"

It seems like the email is totally opposite than what the official site says. Any more information or command?

i got the same reply via email last month, before Princeton updated its website. so i supposed they changed and finalized the policy? but by the looks of it, Princeton really does wanna see the new SAT scores but doesn't dare to make it mandatory... for fear of losing applicants to Harvard and Yale which dun require it? so take it aniway..

I have a slight problem here.. I plan to apply to princeton ED, but I haven't taken the new SAT, though I took the old one and my SAT 2s. I have to take the new one either in october or november for ED, but my school exams and A levels are during that period so I really won't have much time to prepare for SAT.

Should i still take the new SAT? I did quite well on the old one so I'm not too keen on taking it again.

oh u're a fellow singaporean! hmm if u r gonna take it den take it in oct... coz dat's the lull period between prelims and alevels... anw if u did well in the old sat u prob won't have to study much for the new one.... maybe juz mug the word list which i think can be done in 2wks' time... which jc r u from btw?
