Hey, is there a place to upload the transcript and letters of recommendation letter, or do my teachers have to send it in through email?
@daggertye send transcripts/scores through email. Add your teachers and counselor as references. Your teachers will get a link to SlideRoom- that is where they submit their letters of recommendation. However, the counselor will also get a link to SlideRoom, but they should submit scores via email and not through SlideRoom (this is just what the Part III instructions say)
hey, do you know what the blank for “How to submit test scores and transcripts” is supposed to be?
also, my guidance counselor isn’t allowed to send anything affiliated with college board. what should i do??
Hi, I think someone asked this question but I just wanted to make sure. My counselor should send my transcript/ test scores to the email. They should not do anything to the slide room link right?
@max1220 yup, just scores in pdf form via email: rsi@cee.org
Hey guys! I’m also applying to RSI from Ohio (Cincinnati area), thinking biophysics or engineering physics. Is anyone else having trouble with getting their guidance counselor onto Slideroom to submit transcripts?
@squark Well, I think they’re just supposed to email it. The counselor isn’t supposed to respond to the slideroom email.
@squark What @mischiemaker said. I emailed it and they said to just email it.
hey friends, how long are your essays?
@mischiefmaker I’d say mine were on average 85% of the character limit, but I could just be a loquacious person. #1, 3, and 4 were my lengthier ones. What about you guys?
@angie414 all my essays were around the word limit, idk if i wrote too much lmao
@mischiefmaker haha same. the problem for me wasn’t necessarily writing the essays (because I had severe word vomit), but mainly fitting my essays into the character limit… especially #1!
Hey guys. My PSAT math score (out of 38) is 37.5. However, I have to enter a whole number for my score onto the application. What to do?
Sup guys, also applying to RSI this year. From TX :P. Good luck to everyone!
So I have strong test scores/GPA, Got 5’s on AP Calc, Phys 1, phys c mechanics, statistics, computer science, world history(lol), am taking some very rigorous advanced math classes, technical skills(Python, Java), and I partake in a lot of STEM Activities, but I don’t really have any crazy awards. I got a 4 on AIME, have a couple of regional math competition awards, Honorable mention in a state wide math contest, top 10 in the state in robotics usaco silver, 1st regional awards science olympiad etc. I did research last summer at a lab, but I didn’t publish/write a research paper/ have any awards for it. The only national level achievements I have are in chess which I am very very good at but I don’t know how much it counts. I don’t really know if it’s worth applying. The main problem I see is that I have no major awards in STEM. No National Science Olympiad, National Science Bowl, mop, chem/phys/bio/math olympiad, isef. I just really like learning math, physics etc. I don’t know if I should apply or not. Based on what I know, I feel like everybody that gets in has some awesome national level award.
^^ What state are you in?
@chesspusher tbh, I think a lot of us share the same feelings about applying. Like many have said, it’s a complete shot in the dark (even if you have national awards/awesome published research papers).
But as a wise man one said, “you miss 100% of the shots you don’ take!” LOL cheesy quotes aside, the app is pretty time-consuming, but if you’re applying to other summer programs, and ultimately to college, writing the essays will be a productive thing in the long-run.
@Falcon1 Applying from FL
@angie414 Yeah what you’re saying makes sense. I just initially felt like the app was too time consuming, but I guess the essays will help for my other applications as well. Thanks!
Random question from someone new to Olympiads and RSI: where can I access a complete list of past Rickoids withh state of origin? I’m trying to see when the last time someone from South Dakota (my state) was accepted.
I tried searching online and even emailed Maite at CEE, but I came up short down both roads.
