I heard that UCB accidentally sent out 1000 incorrect e-mail notifications about admissions/Regents scholarships. It sounded really wierd and I couldn't find anything online, but has anyone else heard this rumor?

Feb. 21 - Thousands of applicants to UC Berkeley's prestigious law school will probably be disappointed when they find out an e-mail sent out from the admissions office wasn't really intended for them.

The admissions director of the Boalt Hall School of Law says he was training a new staff member when he accidentally sent out an e-mail Friday with an invitation to a private party for students who had been admitted early.

Trouble is the e-mail went out to at least half of the roughly 7,000 hopeful law students who had applied to the school -- instead of the 500 students it was intended for.

There is a positive side to the mixup though. The school says if it were not for a server failure, the e-mail would have gone out to all 7,000 thousand applicants who had applied to the law school.

Oh, boy, could there be 3,000 lawsuits in the near future? :)

PS. Thanks for the reply.
